I’m not surprised, but I’m still a little upset…

This wasn’t my favorite Corey Haim poster as a kid, but it’s close enough.  I thought for sure I’d be able to find it in a google image search or something, which makes me even a little more upset.  But this is when I liked him.

I saw all the Corey movies, watched the Two Coreys, and knew that he was a mess.  I wasn’t shocked when I saw the news.  I read the headline and just sighed.  It was a matter of time.  But it’s still a lost little piece of my childhood now.

Last night it spawned a movie list, a list of things we haven’t seen in a long time, if even at all.  A list of DVDs to find or rewatch.  Fun, fluffy stuff mostly:

 – Dream a Little Dream
 – Lucas
 – The John Hughes Library
 – Suburbia (the Richard Linklater one)
 – Suburbia (the other one from 1982
 – Sid & Nancy
 – Neverwhere (the Neil Gaiman BBC mini-series which has gone missing from my collection)
 – Repo Man
 – Lost Boys 2 (destined to be a disappointment, but still necessary)

Totally random, but good stuff nonetheless.  I can’t say I’m sad to see him go because it’s not like he’s been actively in things that I’ve been watching.  I’m just kinda sad.

About Mama's a Mess

Who am I and what am I doing here? Well, at the end of the day I'm a mother and a wife, a lover of classic monster movies and comic books, of music, TV and movies. I'm a sucker for pop culture. I'm a fangirl. I'm an artist. As my husband always puts it, "Baby, you're a mess!" I have a penchant for creating and collecting. I feed my brain with a mix of anything from hot rods and pin-ups to handmade and natural. I like to dig in the dirt and grow things but sometimes picture myself doing it like Donna Reed. I will always, always choose to wear a dress first. I am head over heels in love with my husband and have a fantastically crazy life with him.
