It’s been almost two hours that I’ve been sitting in front of the computer stuck in a loop of trying to figure out how to manage all the possible social media outlets that I want or “need” to use…and I’m just about to throw in the towel.
In today’s world of being connected everyone’s got the next best outlet. I started with an Etsy shop in 2008. After a BRIEF stint on MySpace I set up a Facebook account as well. I always had a blog. From there I was looped into Twitter which I still haven’t quite mastered to the point of useful or engaging. Now I’m on Pinterest – which I absolutely love. But there’s also my google reader for keeping up on blogs, craftgawker.com which I visit sporadically and how many others that will appear in the next 6 months.
I have a Facebook page for the shop which, as of right now, I absolutely hate. I can’t like or interact with ANYTHING online as my page – only as myself. Well, guess what? As an individual I don’t necessarily want all this stuff going into the black hole of my personal profile. It’s my personal profile for a reason and I use it differently. I want these things to go to the community I’m hoping to engage on my page.
Apparently trying to do that is like trying to solve the U.S. economic crisis.
So, here’s the big questions for today:
1. Is there anyway to change my facebook link on Pinterest? I’ve been trying every workaround I can think of to get my pins to post to my shop page instead of my personal profile with no success.
2. Who has the best idea for managing content between a WordPress blog, facebook page, pinterest and twitter that isn’t Hootsuite?! Hootsuite is apparently for tweets – I need to try to manage EVERYTHING or I might just lose my mind.
