Some stuff you just can’t pass up no matter what the cost *tsk tsk*

Sara & I have found a new activity that we love – thrifting. We hit the thrift stores pretty regularly and find all kinds of cool stuff on the cheap. From crafting items, things we can alter or re-purpose or just something cool that somone else didn’t want anymore. The latest in cool finds – 2 comic strip collections from 2 of my favorites as a kid: Bloom County and Calvin & Hobbes. Both books put us out a total of 20 cents – SCORE!

Bloom County is about my all time favorite comic strip. Bill and Opus are on potential tattoo status. I just found this the other day on the tubez, it’s pretty good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Iv7VPhMZbg

Thanks for the link – It’s pretty cool. I’ve never seen a Bloom County cartoon before, so thanks again for that. Opus is kind of reminiscent of Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in it though and that throws me off a little. I’ve always imagined his voice more like an old Jewish guy. What’s particularly cool about this find, though is that the little floppy album single was still intact and in perfect condition. I can’t wait to throw it on the record player and drive my wife to the brink of divorce with it.

The b-side “You Stink But I (heart) You” is pretty great actually. Sounds like when all those classic 80’s punk bands went through their “metal phase.” “I’m a Boinger” is just ok, more of a standard rock thing. I’d go with the b-side for driving the wife nuts, it’s got sort of the infectious riffage thing going on that will stick in her head for a week.
